Disc Brakes Australia began in a small Sydney workshop, where a rotor machined by hand for a Holden owner turned into a business that started trading in 1975. Half a century on, DBA manufactures rotors, drums, pads, shoes, calipers, cylinders, hoses and fluids for street, 4WD and competition use, shipping from eight distribution centres and exporting to more than thirty countries. Two patented technologies define the range: Kangaroo Paw ventilation, introduced in 2000, which replaces straight cooling vanes with 144 diamond and teardrop pillars for up to 20% more cooling efficiency and a stiffer, more stable disc; and Thermo-Graphic Heat Paint, whose green, orange and red stripes change colour once the rotor passes set temperature thresholds so you can read peak brake temperatures straight off the disc.

A brake-only manufacturer — DBA develops its rotor metallurgy, vane geometry and friction compounds in house, so the Street, 4000 and 5000 Series share one engineering programme from OE replacement through to Race Performance.
